i'm insane, here's my other "project"

My friend Andrew just left for 4 months in Australia, with no return flight to the US booked. I guess he's leaving forever because AU >> snow here, so a video was made for him as a general goodbye (sad feels all around). My other friend Kevin made the video (I have so many friends sorry if it gets confusing), and in it he put this little gem-and-a-half:

hot.
And this made me laugh very, very, very hard, so I ended up making this:

http://headsonanimals.tumblr.com

Which is now my side-project and will be added to my links sidebar. Get ready for a semester of MS Paint and not studying, MIT.

    let's just be honest

Ok, the reason I didn't post anything yesterday on my day off on the couch, is because I was too busy dying and stuffing myself with McDonalds. Because the night before was magical and perfect and made me gain a couple pounds but honestly I'm not weighing myself until Saturday so everybody can just lay off.

Snapchat sent to me by the girl next to me. Also +1 for pimp hats

Whenever a night ends with you next to 2 of your best friends in the whole world in a comfy bed, drinking champagne straight out of a bottle and gossiping about your love lives, you're doing something right. I beat myself up everyday about the weight I've gained over the past year, and my bad decisions, and weird stuff that has happened in context of relationships, and my lack-of-dedication to my grades...but I can't be unhappy, because with friends like the ones I have, there is always something to celebrate and talk about.

So my challenge to you (and myself) is for next New Years' Eve: this time, actually save some champagne for mimosas the next morning, instead of hiding it then finding it then drinking all of it. Or maybe not - maybe just put on the sparkly dress again and head out to brunch, because you can't afford to miss out on just that much more fun.

♥~one night of fun is better than none~♥

    Bad(ish) News

Hey guys - quick update before practice - I WILL be blogging later, probably from the bathtub. YAY

Quote Thursday is being postponed indefinitely, until I get more quotable things from my friends. This may not happen until I get back home, considering the very sad predicament I'm in with my "friends" here.

But maybe not - my two lovely littles may provide some quotes as soon as next week!

Anyway, thanks for your patience. More beauty reviews and diet stories to come. I gotta get my waistline in check before Halloween - maybe these freakin boys should give me less candy (except not actually at all haha thanks guys :D).

    lush: the wuss

So, I've had a very painful and trying weekend/past week. Ask me about it in person, I'll dish. Basically losing friends and dignity sucks (intrigued, right? Yep).

Anyways, this called for me ordering things online while having no pants on, and that meant I spent WAY too much money on Lush stuff (again), but it's kind of OK because they had my favorite cleanser again and I jumped on that shit immediately.

I also splurged on like a million Retro bath treats. Cause the only things that really calm me down on campus, that are legal, are baths and tea - and I go to the Lush store by me like all the time anyway, so I figured if it was an online-order, I'd stick to Retro.

LITTLE DID I KNOW that 2 of my favorite things ever would be in the Retro section: the wuss, and Hot Milk (also Ice Hotel, but I already knew this).

I didn't take any pictures cause I was TOO BUSY ENJOYING THIS
You guys - oh my God - I love man-smells, I love the smell of coffee. I hope coffee grounds are still in my hair from the bath. I hope the martini scent never goes away. I sat there until all the bubbles went away before washing my hair - to enjoy myself and take in the scent (and listen to Vessels) - and they lasted like 30 minutes. The smell, every time I caught a strong whiff of it, made me sigh. It was absolute heaven. I don't know what's so wrong with me that I like the "weirdest" Lush bubble bar, but I DO AND IT'S GONE AND I WANT MORE ),:

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the wuss, please, PLEASE let me know. It's my new favorite thing. Get it for me. Please.

Reviews of Hot Milk and Ickle Baby Bot are coming! <3 you for being patient.

PS: Check out this blog I wanna make some of the recipes she has they look like delicious fun.

PPS: My parents are coming with me to a formal Friday.

PPPS: My top Lush products, in no particular order:

    1. Let the Good Times Roll Cleanser
    2. The Smell of Weather Turning Perfume
    3. the wuss bubble bar
    4. French Kiss bubble bar
    5. Hot Milk bubble bar
    6. Oatifix/Cupcake fresh face masks (equally great, only available in-store)
    7. Ice Hotel bubble bar

Get me these as presents thanxxxx

    HAIM

The only picture I thought to take. #dancedtoohard

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the sold-out HAIM concert at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. It's the first of many concerts I am going to this semester (I'll post my schedule later sometime), and WOW. What a way to shake my depression of last week.

HAIM is a indieish-rockish-popish-folky band of 3 sister + 1 guy drummer, and man, those girls are talented like nothing I've ever seen. Like, the most talented musicians I've seen on a stage - they did it all - all three of them sang lead at some point in the concert, they KILLED it on guitar, and there was this drum encore part that literally BLEW ME AND S'S MIND. I don't know how they could physically have that much energy and yet still be so precise and rhythmically synced.

My favorite part of the concert was when they played Don't Save Me and then Forever immediately after that. They were sick you guys. Like true rockers. The lead for most of the concert (I'm pretty sure her name is Danielle) was soooooo cool. She wore this leather jacket and just was so genuinely talented & fun & cool. I wanna be in their family.

In other words, it was absolutely amazing, from the venue to their clothes to the fact that I can't really hear today. The girls were just so cool - rockers for real, they didn't try to be sexy or pretty or whatever, but they were just cause they were so talented!! Like....I have a major girl crush on ALL of them. :D

On another note....I know at least 2 friends who had tickets (1 I bought a ticket for....), who just didn't like, want to go at the last minute and fucking either DID NOTHING or PLAYED LAZER TAG instead. I don't know what kinda fucking drugs these people are on, but they done missed OUT. Like that was worth my 25$ absolutely!!! Why wouldn't you go to a concert??? You can play loser laser tag any time!

So yeah...that like blows my mind too. LAME. I would be PISSED if I missed out on this....thank God for Paradise Rock Club and HAIM!

    candy

Ps. If you wanna listen to them & another band I'm going to later this semester (The Ballroom Thieves), here's a link to my "concert prep" playlist on Spotify. It'll have more bands soon, as I update it.

    QUOTE THURSDAY VOL. 3

Guess what day it is???? GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS.

Can't believe this is the 3rd week of greatness. And one regular isn't even making an appearance this week!!

    kaleidoscope!

My new nickname is Kaleidoscope. It may or may not be based on a drunk interesting text, as you can see below, from my BFF J.

    ALL MY KALEIDOSCOPIC PIECES <3

So, this got me thinking about my eyewear. Which is a natural progression from drunk texting.

After some research, I discovered 2 different brands that produce Kaleidoscopic-lensed glasses. The fashion world is all in a tizzy over the new h0les brand and their very expensive face jewelry, and I've read several blog posts that seem to assume that h0les was the first to create such lenses, or have this idea.

But, as a girl on a budget (who has a pension/addiction for shopping), I dug deeper. And I believe that h0les is not the first one to make such trippy eyewear.

I found Future Eyes, a brand that seems to have been around for at least a year, with a less-expensive set of glasses. They produce these glasses for dedicated ravers, I think, and general fashion-y people, but I don't know why fashion blogs seem to have missed them? They're not that much cheaper, especially if you want (as I would) the rainbow-colored lenses, but I think that they are a viable option. [Hopefully they aren't just a less-expensive gateway drug type of thing, like Fujifilm Instaxes are to Polaroid Instant cameras.] They also have a seemingly awesome 2-for-1 deal, and I may need to get a pair for a friend (Are my friends cool enough, though? WE'LL SEE.)

The point is, I need a pair for the party scene this fall. Like, NEED. More than a record player or pepper spray. Do I go for the cheaper, OG glasses? Or the newer, fashion-centered brand? Can you tell a difference????

Future Eyes' Regular Glasses (1 pair for $40.00)

Future Eyes' Rainbow Glasses (1 pair for $60.00)

    h0les' Glasses (1 pair for $100.00)

I'll let you know which ones I get!!

    Quote Thursday!! vol. 2

Despite the obvious disaster that was yesterday, I'm not failing on you! Here's another QUOTE THURSDAY to get you through to the weekend!! And this one is great, because of the amount I saw my great friends this weekend. Did you make the cut? Do you need more context? Do you think other things you said should've gotten in/were way funnier?? Let me know in the comments/on facebook/on twitter/by text. And remember, keep up the funniness guys!! There's always next week, and next week, and the next....(:

Which one's my favorite? They're all so perfect. I love my friends. (The first one was especially fitting for this blog, huh?)

    fun stuff before quotes thursday!

My friends are seriously funny, and I have been meaning to share this little nugget the guy one cubicle away from me Facebook messaged me the other day (T). You might laugh, you might not, but it'll tide you over for another 1.5 hours before Quote Thursday!

He has a fascination with Sperry's.

To clarify, the tab he has open there is for the EXACT same pair of Sperry's as the ad on his Facebook. WEIRD RIGHT.

That's all for now! See you soon with more funn-ness #yayitsquotethursday

    COOL NEW SHIT: Something Useful

    I'M IN A BAND.

The members of Something Useful. Left-to-Right: Ann, me, Kate.
That's right, a real agreed-upon band. Like all the members are down, and it's not just made up in my head while I air-guitar to Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble (wait, did I do that this weekend? How could something that embarrassing cool not make it into the weekend recap? WINK).

It's called Something Useful, and it's a girl band. The members are K, A, and myself, and because we're gonna be famous soon anyway, I will reveal their names here: Kate and Ann.

I'm lead guitar. Cool right? Kate's the drummer/percussion in general, (plus she came up with the sweet band name) and Ann is the lead singer cause she can actually sing. Maybe we'll record a demo. Who knows. But stay checked-in for any developments...maybe those weird lyrics I write down in my diary will finally come in handy.

    monday morning: weekend recap

ATTRACTIVE! I can see why boys hit on me so often.
Have I mentioned I'm a huge fan of slang terms? Especially new and weird ones. Like I'm dedicated to start saying "party" now instead of "yes," and "I fell out" has entered my vocabulary too.
    Examples:

K: "Yo, there's like a get-together going on tonight. Wanna go?"
    Me: "Party."

A: "Could you believe the craziness that happened last night??"
Me: "NO! When Ken got onto the coffee table, I totally fell out."

So yeah, that happened. Occasionally. And we took a hell of a lot of polaroids, I got into trouble (what else is new though, right), wore out my sneaker heels, got asked if I had a face tattoo, and obsessed over the year 2008. Which upon further inspection, is the funniest year to obsess about, because it was dumb and Viva La Vida by Coldplay was the number one song of the year.

Also, I like to give life advice when I'm drunk. And the life advice that I like to give is about how studying is boring and you should party as much as you possibly can and do all the fun shit you have the opportunity to do (which I agree with), OR about how to not date Mormons. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME PEOPLE LEGIT ASKED ME ABOUT THIS ON SUNDAY.

    I'm a makeup genius, amirite.

    So actual recap time:

    Friday.
    • 12:37pm. Leave DC with an iced coffee and a scone from Northside Social.
    • 1:45pm. Have major road rage because of huge traffic on I-95SB. Download Nick Swardson comedy albums. Laugh about stupid stuff.
    • 2:54pm. Choke on scone when listening to Pound the Alarm by Nicki Minaj, because I was dancing to it too hard.
    • 4:53pm. Finally get to K & A's apartment. Leave immediately to get our nails done.
    • 5:15pm. Get a pedicure, talk about weird shit in front of nail ladies, make them laugh.
    • 6:03pm. Go to claires, get a bunch of fake earrings, K gets her ears pierced (for the 4th time).
    • 6:22pm. Applebee's!
    • 8:31pm. Get ready for party (makeup, dress, heels, fake tattoo, cross earrings - clip ons).
    • 9:12pm Leave K's apartment to pick up some people. Roll away as they get in. Party.
    • 9:30pm. Party on. Dance like nerds, drink up, be ridiculous. Quotes Thursday this week? Gonna be good. MORE TO BE REVEALED
    ---------

    Saturday.
    • 6:10am. A makes a hilarious post on Facebook regarding the weekend. People comment on it. I love the internet.
    • 10ish am. Actually wake up. Think the party was tame. Go out to the living room, re-quote stuff. OMG it was insane. I love Thrilliamsburg.
    • 12:20pm. Manhattan bagel. Let's just say I left my diet at home this weekend. Party.
    • ----NAP TIME----
    • 3:34pm. Lax it up with a boy.
    • 6:15pm. See Despicable Me 2 and get some dinner. Good date right? Also this movie was kick ass, go see it. Those little yellow guys are awesome.
    • 9:17pm. A drives us to another party. We're the first ones there, because I'm just going to pregame at the party, so when people get there I'm already there and ready to go. Yeah I suffer from FOMO. Badly.
    • 10:40pm. Kids get there. There's a guy named after a chess piece, and I get water thrown on me. We take polaroids of EVERYTHING, and people love it. #2008 #sorryIparty
    • 11:25pm. At this point in time, I'm running around mingling with everyone. Working the room, you know. Nostalgia playlist goes on, cause there's a group of people there who may have been 27-ish and you know they love some Fergalicious.
    • 12:02pm. I play beer pong, which I normally hate. We lose, and I bail. LOL
    • 12:40pm. Shots o' clock has turned this into a cigarette night. #MrBrightside, amirite?
    • 1:30ish am. Disaster kind of strikes, my bad, I freaked out. Take everyone home, big shitshow, woops. Still an awesome party with awesome people...#sorryimnotsorry hahaha

On Sunday I pretty much just felt achy and watched Supernatural with Kate. Zaxby's saved my drive home. But I made it, so that's good. Lessons learned? NONE. GREAT WEEKEND.

    OH ALSO:

stay tuned for some #THRILLIAMSBURG bro tanks. we're gonna be the sickest kids at the next party.

    QUOTE THURSDAY

listening to: Lost in My Bedroom by Sky Ferreira

Ok, so every Thursday I'd like to bring you some funny/awesome/true quotes from my life. You know, like stuff my friends and I say to each other that exemplifies how obnoxious cool we are. I'll probably post like 3-5 a week, and they're all originals from my life, which is why they have first-name credits. Use at your own discretion.

Yeah I know it has a dumb free-app signature. But I like the app and it's easy so get used to it/suck it.

That's it for this QUOTE THURSDAY. Some of this stuff may end up on my twitter, so follow me if you want more quotes throughout the whole week & not just Thursdays: @candykappers. I post a LOT of the stuff my parents say. So that's always hilarious.

your best friend is a dick and you're fine with it

listening to: Think of You by MS MR
We both look like such nice people.

I have a handful of best friends, people who actually know a lot about me, as in personal (read: sad) stuff. But honestly, I can't describe any of them as nice. They're not. They're all dicks - and I mean all of them.

Let's do a headcount, with first initials because I'm trying to protect the anonymity of the people I post pictures of on this blog: J, S, K, Jo, C, A, Al, M, Ca. Dick, dick, dick...you get the picture.

Now, I'm not trying to be a mean or bad friend, or actually bashing these kids in anyway. They're absolutely fantastic friends, and great people. What I mean, is that they're not nice. They've got something else, something I love - a witty edge, a willingness to make fun of people, and the ability to "dish-it-and-take-it."
(If you noticed, I didn't put a "B" in my headcount. Cause that friend can DEFINITELY dish it, but he can't take it. What a wuss.)

I love people with a sense of humor, and if you can make me laugh, we've got the first step to friendship down. And honestly, if you're not a little bit mean (at least a little bit. Usually it's a lot), you can't be funny. You're too nice to be funny. You might take offense to things I say. You make me uncomfortable, cause you're so fucking freaking nice.

So when my best friend S (pictured above, anonymity can suck it) informed me, loudly, "You're going to HELL!" I took it in stride, and laughed, and probably snorted from laughing. I do that.

Thanks for the blog name, friends. Your dickiness makes me laugh, and deep down I know you're good people that have my back no matter what. You're just not nice.
